I went to my first concert of 2013 today to see the incredible Band From TV play at the Fallsview Casino in Niagara Falls. Maybe it’s because it’s been a few months since I was last at a show, but I felt absolutely electrified watching these guys play. They were so full of energy and had such a great vibe.
My dad and I were lucky enough to get centre-floor tickets in the 4th row (for free!) and got to experience being up-close and personal with these television icons. During the first song, James Denton came down to the aisle with his acoustic guitar, playing right beside my dad, when I decided to scream excitedly, to which he turned to me and replied with an equally excited scream, spurring me to scream again, and him to scream once more, all the while laughing amusedly. Later, Greg Grunberg was getting a few girls to dance with him from the audience and eventually ended up jiving for a bit next to my dad and I, which was absolutely surreal. And the best part about the seats? I had the best view of Jesse Spencer, who happened to be directly in front of me on stage with his violin, baseball cap, Chicago Fire Dept. t-shirt, and all-around incredible self.
Now, it must be said that I usually try to publicly hold in my exuberant fangirl side, but now that I’m home and have had a chance to process everything that happened, I just can’t hold it in any more. Jesse is my all-time favourite TV actor, coming in second only after Christian Bale when it comes to men who own my heart. I’ve come to accept that I’ll probably never meet Christian, and that even meeting Kristen Bell is close to impossible. But today, I saw Jesse in person, in the flesh, and as a bonus - singing and playing the violin and piano. There are no words to express just how incredible that felt (God only knows what would have happened if I actually had the chance to meet him). It was also such a treasure to notice his little mannerisms and see how he behaves in a casual, off-screen setting. He’s funny, laid-back, and so goddamn talented. Even my dad said afterwards, “The boy that played the violin was very, very good. Very good.” I absolutely love his smiles, his occasional wink at the crowd, and just that face. Good Lord. Needless to say, today only confirmed that Jesse is the man of my dreams… if only I were kidding, ha!
All funny business aside, I feel so incredibly lucky to have seen him and get the chance to appreciate him live today (alongside all of the other talented men: Greg, James, Bob Guiney, Scott Grimes, and the gorgeous Adrian Pasdar). I love actors and Hollywood and that entire universe. Today, I caught a glimpse of it, and even interacted with its inhabitants a little. To say that I’m “happy” would not even begin to cover how I feel…but it was all pretty damn incredible.
i love you once
i love you twice
i love you more than beans and rice
